The big picture of the Bible
We run a Zoom discussion group to accompany the ‘Introduction to the Bible’ PTC (Preliminary Theological Certificate) subject.
You do the week's worth of online study yourself, then we’ll supplement it with a 1 hour discussion session where we will summarise the material and you can ask questions and push things further.
Introduction to the Bible is part of the Preliminary Theological Certificate - it’s theology delivered online from Moore College. Mostly it’s reading, but there’s some audio content too. It’s great. There are online exams if you want to do them. If you do a bunch of subjects, you can get awarded a (non-accredited) certificate.
This is what the website says about the first subject recommended, and the one we’re doing:
"Introduction to the Bible shows how the great themes of the Bible fit together into one story that spans both the Old and New Testaments. At the centre of the story is of course Jesus and this unit shows how God planned to redeem his people, which begins with promises to Abraham and continues through the fortunes of the nation of Israel, reaches its climax at the cross.”
It costs $25 to enrol in a 6 month subject until June 30 (normally costs $45). There are 10 lessons in each subject, so the discussion runs over 10 weeks. You can find out more about the subject and the PTC on Moore College's website.
